A Sister's Heartfelt Plea for My Brother's Redemption
My brother, Michael, has been battling alcoholism for years, and it feels like he is slipping further away from us every day. Our family has tried talking to him about faith and the hope that comes from a relationship with Jesus, but he just shuts us down every time. It hurts to see him struggling, trapped in a cycle of despair and addiction. I’ve often thought about the parable of the lost sheep (Luke 15:7) and how much God cares for each one of us. I wish Michael could see that God is waiting for him with open arms. I’m asking for prayer that God would soften his heart and open his eyes to the truth. Please pray that he finds the courage to seek help and that he encounters God in a powerful way.

Dear Sarah, thank you for sharing your heart with us. It’s clear how much you love your brother and how deeply you desire for him to find freedom and salvation. Remember that God’s heart is for all His children, even those who seem farthest away. Scripture reminds us in Ezekiel 18:23 that God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked but desires that they turn from their ways and live. Your prayers are powerful and can be a lifeline for Michael. God is patient and compassionate, waiting for the moment when Michael’s heart is ready to receive His grace (2 Peter 3:9). May you find peace in the trust that God is working in Michael's life, even when you cannot see it. I encourage you to continue showing him love and support, even during difficult conversations. Let’s pray together for Michael, that he may recognize his need for Jesus, as Romans 10:9 assures us that if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we shall be saved. Father, we lift Michael up to You, asking that You break the chains of addiction and fill his heart with hope and healing. Amen.
