A Struggle to Sense God's Presence

My name is David, and I’m a 45-year-old man who has been walking with the Lord for many years. Recently, I’ve hit a wall in my spiritual journey. During worship, I feel as though I’m just going through the motions. The songs feel empty, and I struggle to concentrate on the messages. I desire to feel the Spirit moving in my heart again, to sense His presence like I once did. I want to reconnect with my passion for God, but I don’t know where to begin. I ask for prayer that my heart would be opened to God’s whisper and that I might find joy and peace in worship once more.

Senior Pastor, Bethel Church

Dear David, thank you for sharing your heart with us. It is indeed challenging when we find ourselves feeling numb in our worship. Remember, God is always present, even when we can’t feel Him. 'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil' (Jeremiah 29:11). Sometimes, the journey of faith is not a straight path but rather a series of ups and downs. It’s in these valleys that we can learn to trust Him even more. As you seek to reignite that connection, consider returning to your first love for God, as seen in Revelation 2:4. Reflect on the times you felt closest to Him and the circumstances that brought you joy. I challenge you to spend a few moments each day in silence, allowing God to reveal Himself to you in new ways. Trust in His timing. I will pray that the Lord shines His light upon your path and restores your joy.
