A Wife's Plea for Her Husband's Restoration
My husband has returned from deployment, but he is a shadow of the man I married. His PTSD has changed him, and while I understand that he’s fighting battles within, I feel so alone in this journey. There are days when he won’t talk to me, and it feels like I’m losing the connection we once had. I miss our laughter and the love we shared. I am trying my hardest to be supportive, but I often feel overwhelmed and powerless. I pray for his healing and that he will open up to me and allow me in. Please pray for us, that we can find our way back to each other despite the darkness.
Pastor's Response
Pastor Michael Thompson
Pastoral Counselor
Dear Sara, thank you for your courageous openness about the struggles you and your husband are facing. It takes great strength to support a loved one in their darkest moments, and I commend you for your commitment to your marriage. Remember, Ephesians 5:25 tells us that 'husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church.' Your faithfulness in this season is a testament to that love. I encourage you to remain steadfast in your support and to seek God’s guidance in how to communicate with your husband during these times. God can work miracles in the midst of distress, and His power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Create safe spaces for dialogue, and gently encourage him when he is ready to share his feelings. Trust in Philippians 4:7, which assures us of the 'peace of God, which passeth all understanding.' I will pray for both of you to find connection again and for healing to flow into your marriage.
