A Young Adult's Battle with Shame from Past Decisions
I am a young adult, and I find myself constantly battling feelings of shame and guilt over decisions I made in my late teens. I thought I was living my life freely, but now I see the consequences of my actions affecting my relationships and my peace. I feel like I carry a heavy load of shame that clouds my ability to experience joy and fulfillment in my faith. I want to believe that I can be forgiven, but I often doubt whether God can truly forgive someone like me. Please pray for my heart to heal and for the ability to accept the forgiveness that God offers. I long to feel free.

Dear Daniel, your openness in sharing your struggle is both brave and important. It’s easy to allow past decisions to overshadow the abundant life that Christ offers us. In John 8:36, we read, 'If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.' This powerful promise speaks to your desire for freedom from shame and guilt. God’s forgiveness is not based on our merit but on His grace, as demonstrated in Ephesians 2:8-9, where we learn that 'For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.' Believe that you are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), and allow this truth to guide your thoughts and actions. Surround yourself with community, and seek the counsel of trusted friends who can help lift you up. Let’s pray for healing and the courage to step into the light of God’s grace.
