A Young Woman's Search for God's Calling

I am a 22-year-old woman, currently working in a job that feels unfulfilling. I've felt a deep tug on my heart to pursue seminary and serve God more directly, but I'm scared and unsure of what this path entails. My friends and family have mixed opinions—some are supportive, while others are skeptical about my decision. The thought of leaving my comfort zone terrifies me. I struggle with feelings of inadequacy and wonder if I truly have what it takes to be a leader in ministry. I pray for clarity and courage to follow this calling if it's truly from God, and I ask for support as I seek to discern His will for my life.

Pastor's Response

Pastor Angela Foster

Missions Pastor, First Baptist Church

Dear Megan, thank you for sharing your heart with us. It’s often daunting to consider a significant change, especially when it involves following God’s calling. Remember that God does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Your feelings of inadequacy are understandable, but take heart in the promise that He who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6). Seeking direction is a noble pursuit and requires faith; in Proverbs 3:6, we are reminded to acknowledge Him in all our ways, and He will direct our paths. Spend time in prayer and the Word, and trust that your faith will grow (Romans 10:17). I pray for God to provide you clarity and peace as you navigate these important decisions. May you feel His guidance upon your heart. Amen.
