Battling Anxiety During Family Gatherings
Family gatherings have become a major source of anxiety for me since my recovery journey began. While I love my family, I dread the judgmental looks and comments about my past. The fear of slipping back into old habits is magnified in these situations. I wish I could enjoy the time spent together without constantly worrying about what others think or whether I'll be triggered. I want to learn how to cope with this anxiety and embrace my family relationships again. Please pray that I can find peace during these gatherings.

Dear Sofia, thank you for sharing your struggle with family gatherings. It’s understandable to feel anxious in environments that remind us of our past. God has a purpose for you in this season, and He desires to bring healing to your relationships. As you navigate these gatherings, remember the promise in Philippians 4:6-7, which says, 'Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.' Lean into prayer before these events, asking God to fill you with His peace and strength. Also, in Isaiah 26:3, we are reminded that when our minds are focused on Him, we experience perfect peace. Embrace the love and grace of God as you enter these situations. I will be praying for you to feel His presence and comfort during family gatherings so you can enjoy the moments with your loved ones. May God grant you peace and joy as you celebrate your recovery journey.
