Battling Separation Anxiety as a New Parent
I’m a new mom, and my heart races every time my baby is out of my sight. I constantly worry about whether I’m doing enough for my child and if they are safe. This anxiety has made it challenging for me to even step out for a short break or to take care of myself. Friends and family tell me it’ll get better, but right now, I fear leaving my little one with anyone else. I feel trapped in this overwhelming sense of responsibility and fear. I’m asking for prayer to find peace in trusting others and to let go of this anxiety that feels paralyzing. Please pray that I can embrace freedom as a parent and grow in confidence.

Dear Emily, thank you for sharing your heart with us. It’s completely natural for new parents to experience anxiety, especially regarding the safety and well-being of their little ones. Remember, you are not alone in this journey. In Isaiah 26:3, it says, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." This verse reminds us that peace comes from placing our trust in God. I encourage you to take small steps toward letting go of that fear. Perhaps try leaving your baby with a trusted family member for a short duration, reminding yourself that they are in good hands. Also, remember to cast all your cares upon Him, as it says in 1 Peter 5:7, "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." God cares deeply for you and your child. Finally, when worry creeps in, lean on Philippians 4:6, which encourages us to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication let your requests be known unto God. Let us pray for your heart’s peace amid this transition: "Lord, we ask for Emily's heart to be filled with Your peace, helping her trust in You as she navigates this beautiful but challenging time of motherhood."
