Carrying the Burden of Chronic Caregiving
My name is Maria, and I am a 45-year-old woman who has been a caregiver for my disabled sister for over a decade. I love her dearly, but the constant demands are starting to wear me down. I feel fear creeping in about my health and my ability to keep caring for her. There are days when I feel like I’m running on empty, and I am often anxious about the future. I long for God’s help to alleviate this weight I carry and for the strength to continue fulfilling this role without losing myself. Please pray that I find relief from this anxiety and that I am reminded of God’s promises.

Dear Maria, thank you for sharing your struggles with us. Your dedication to your sister is a beautiful testament to your love, but it's important to remember that your well-being is also crucial. God wants to give you rest, as highlighted in Matthew 11:28, where Jesus invites us all to come to Him for rest. You are not meant to carry this burden alone. 1 Peter 5:7 beautifully reassures us to cast our anxieties upon Him because He cares for us deeply. I also want you to reflect on Lamentations 3:23, which tells us that His mercies are new every morning—this is a reminder to seek His strength daily. I will pray for God’s comfort and peace in your heart and for relief from your anxiety. May He bless you with the support you need. Amen.
