Caught in the Tide of Work: A Cry for Help
Hi, I’m Anita, and I’m a 27-year-old graduate student. Lately, I’ve been overwhelmed by my academic and work responsibilities. I have so much to juggle, and I feel like I can’t catch a break. I often burn the midnight oil, convincing myself that hard work will lead to success. However, I’ve noticed that I’m emotionally and physically drained. I find it hard to connect with God when I’m in this frantic state, and I miss having deep conversations with Him. I’m asking for prayers that God would help me to prioritize my spiritual health and allow myself to rest without feeling guilty about unfinished tasks. I want to refocus my heart on Him and trust that He is in control of my future.

Dear Anita, thank you for your honesty. The pressure of academic life can indeed be overwhelming, and I commend you for your desire to seek God in the midst of it all. Remember, it’s okay to take a step back. In Philippians 4:6-7, Paul encourages us, 'Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.' This tells us that when we dedicate our cares to God, He grants us peace that transcends our circumstances. I also encourage you to reflect on Romans 8:38, where it says, 'For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God.' God loves you dearly and wants you to rest in His embrace. I will pray for clarity and strength in managing your responsibilities while nurturing your spiritual life.
