Climbing Out of Isolation Together
Hello, I'm Sarah, and I'm reaching out as I find myself in a painful situation. My husband and I have been part of a very isolating religious community for years, and it has taken a toll on our relationship and our family. The control we’ve lived under has hindered our ability to connect with friends and family outside the group, and now, as we try to leave, we feel so alone in this process. Our children are confused and scared about losing their friends and the only community they know. I ask for prayers for courage and clarity as we navigate this change. Please pray also for our children, that they may find comfort and understanding during this transition. I long for healing in our marriage and hope for a supportive community to embrace us.

Dear Sarah, thank you for your heartfelt message. What you are experiencing resonates deeply, and I want to assure you that you are not alone. God is with you in this journey of leaving isolation and finding a new community. Remember, as you walk through this challenging time, that God has great plans for you and your family. In Jeremiah 29:11, it says, 'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.' It's important to hold onto that promise. The transition away from a controlling environment can be daunting, especially for your children. As you seek to provide them with love and support, I encourage you to communicate openly with them, allowing them to express their feelings. In Ephesians 5:25, we are reminded that love is foundational, so let your love for each other guide you. I will keep your family in my prayers, asking God to provide you with peace, understanding, and a welcoming community as you move forward.
