Confronting the Darkness of Eternal Fear
I’m a 32-year-old mother of two, and I’ve been consumed by a crippling fear of hell. I find it hard to sleep at night due to the anxious thoughts that invade my mind. I was raised in a strict religious environment, and I feel like I can never do enough to earn God’s grace. Every time I read the Bible or hear a sermon, I’m paralyzed by worry that I won’t measure up and will be lost forever. I want to rest in the assurance of His love, but my heart is heavy with doubt. Please pray that I can find peace in my faith and truly embrace the grace that God has offered me through Jesus. I want to be free from this fear and learn to trust His promise of salvation.

Dear Sarah, thank you for your heartfelt prayer request. I want you to know that God understands your fears and desires for assurance. Remember that in Romans 10:17, it says, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." It’s through His Word that you will find the faith you need to overcome your fear. You must also remember that God’s grace is a gift, not something we can earn through our actions. Ephesians 2:8-9 teaches us, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Take a moment to let this truth sink in—your salvation is secure through Christ’s sacrifice. I encourage you to spend time in prayer and Scripture, specifically focusing on the verses that speak of God’s unconditional love, such as Psalm 46:10, which states, "Be still, and know that I am God." He is waiting for you to find rest in Him. I will be praying for you, that you may experience His perfect peace and the assurance of His love.
