Coping with Doubts About God's Presence
My name is Jonathan, and I'm a 45-year-old father of two. Recently, I have been dealing with crippling anxiety that stems from a feeling of abandonment by God. I’ve been going through a rough patch, and despite my prayers, I feel distant from Him. There are moments when I wonder if I have strayed too far or if I’ve committed sins that can't be forgiven. This fear keeps me up at night, and I often struggle to be the father and husband my family needs. I pray for clarity and a sense of God’s presence in my life once more. Please pray that I can overcome this fear and reconnect with God's love and assurance.

Dear Jonathan, thank you for your honest sharing. It’s not uncommon to feel distant from God during difficult times, but I want to encourage you that even in your struggles, He is very much present. Psalm 55:22 reminds us, 'Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee.' Your feelings of abandonment do not reflect the truth of His promises. God is always with us, as highlighted in Matthew 28:20, where Jesus assures us, 'I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.' Your fears are valid, but they do not define your relationship with God. I encourage you to remember 2 Timothy 1:7, which says, 'For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.' Embrace the truth of His love and seek Him with an open heart. I pray you find renewed strength and assurance in His presence. Amen.
