Coping with Empty Spaces After My Companion's Passing
I never imagined that losing my service dog would feel this devastating. He was more than just a pet; he was my partner in life and my source of stability. Now, the house feels empty, and the silence is deafening. I feel anxious and scared, as I no longer have that support. I am struggling to regain my independence and feel overwhelmed by simple tasks that once felt manageable. I ask for prayers to help me fill this empty space in my heart and to find strength to adapt to this new chapter in my life. Please pray for my healing and guidance as I seek ways to cope.
Pastor's Response

Associate Pastor, Covenant Presbyterian Church
Dear Jordan, your feelings of emptiness and anxiety are completely understandable. The bond you shared with your service dog was unique and filled with love and trust. Remember that grief is not a linear path; it has its own rhythm, and it's okay to feel the weight of that loss. Matthew 5:4 tells us that 'Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.' I want to encourage you to reach out for support from your friends, family, or even a support group of others who understand this pain. 2 Corinthians 1:4 reminds us that God comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble. As you grieve, let the Lord guide your heart towards healing. Take one day at a time, and trust that He will help you adapt to this new reality. I’m praying for God’s peace to surround you and for healing to begin in your heart. You are not alone in this journey.
