Coping with Family Separation on Night Shifts
Hello, my name is Jenna, and I am a single mother working night shifts in retail. Every night, I leave my young children at home with a babysitter, and it breaks my heart to be away from them. I often feel exhausted and guilty for missing out on their bedtime stories and morning smiles. I am asking for prayer to help me cope with this separation and find energy to keep going. I want to provide for my kids, but I also want to cherish the time we have together. Please pray that I can find the balance and that my children feel loved and secure even when I’m not around.

Dear Jenna, thank you for sharing your struggles with us. It’s completely understandable to feel the weight of being away from your children, especially as a single mother. The love you have for them is evident in your words. Ecclesiastes 3:1 teaches us that 'to everything there is a season,' and this season of night shifts won’t last forever. Seek to create special moments with your children when you are home, even if they are brief. Remember, Matthew 6:33 encourages you to seek God first, and He will provide what you need, including the strength to juggle your responsibilities. Always know that your love for your children shines through in your efforts. Let’s pray for solace in your heart, energy in your days, and meaningful connections with your kids during the time you have together.
