Coping with Loss: A Sister's Overdose
I am devastated after losing my sister to an overdose. She struggled with addiction for years, and I always felt helpless. Now that she's gone, I feel like I didn't do enough to help her. The guilt is eating me alive, and I can’t seem to find peace. I keep praying, but I feel distant from God and overwhelmed with sadness. I'm reaching out for prayer, hoping to find ways to cope with this tragedy and the guilt that lingers. I need support to trust in God’s plan and grace.

Dear Lisa, my heart goes out to you during this incredibly painful time. Grieving the loss of a sibling is a profound experience, filled with complex emotions including guilt. It is essential to remember that God understands your pain, having experienced the loss of His own Son. In the midst of your sorrow, know that He is the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles (2 Corinthians 1:4). Release the burden of guilt to Him, for He is merciful and compassionate (Lamentations 3:32). Allow yourself to grieve and also to hope, trusting that God has a purpose even in this heartbreak. I encourage you to surround yourself with a supportive community that can help you walk through this. Let’s pray: Heavenly Father, be with Lisa as she navigates her grief. Help her to find peace in your presence and comfort in your promises. Amen.
