Desiring Peace in Family Gatherings
I’m Alex, a 40-year-old father who struggles with separation anxiety during family gatherings. While I love my family, the thought of being away from them in larger gatherings causes me immense anxiety, worrying about how I will manage if I feel overwhelmed. I find myself wanting to be close to them at all times, fearing that if I detach even for a moment, I will miss something important or that something bad will happen. This fear has kept me from enjoying these moments fully. I want prayer to help me let go of that anxiety and embrace the joys of being together, trusting that God is watching over us.

Dear Alex, thank you for your heartfelt request. It is completely natural to feel anxious during large family gatherings, especially when we care deeply for our loved ones. I want to assure you that God desires for you to have peace in your heart during these times. In John 14:27, Jesus says, 'Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.' By placing your trust in Him, you can find that peace amidst the chaos of family gatherings. Remember, God is watching over your loved ones, even when you feel a need to stay close. Embrace the moments and allow Him to calm your fears (Philippians 4:7). I will pray that you feel His presence in those gatherings, allowing you to enjoy each moment free from anxiety.
