Desiring Strength to Fast in a Busy World
As a college student juggling classes, work, and social life, I feel like my spiritual life is slipping away. I've been hearing a lot about the importance of fasting and how it can help strengthen my relationship with God. However, I find it challenging to set aside time for fasting when my schedule is so hectic. I feel like I’m constantly running from one thing to the next, and the thought of fasting seems impossible. I really want to commit to this spiritual discipline but need prayer for strength and guidance to find the right balance in my busy life.

Dear Liam, I understand how overwhelming life can be, especially during your college years. It’s commendable that you wish to incorporate fasting as a means to strengthen your relationship with God. Remember that even amidst our busiest days, God is still present and desires to meet us where we are. In Romans 8:39, we are reminded that nothing can separate us from the love of God, even in our hectic schedules. I encourage you to consider fasting in a way that fits into your lifestyle; perhaps you can fast during your lunch hour or designate a day of the week where you focus on prayer and reflection. Jesus emphasizes in Matthew 6:18 that fasting is a personal act between you and God, and He values your heart’s intent. Let’s pray together: Father, give Liam the strength to balance his commitments while pursuing a deeper relationship with You through fasting. Amen.
