Desiring to Facilitate Life-Changing Encounters
Volunteering in jail has opened my eyes to the struggles of the men inside. There’s a deep yearning within me to see them encounter Jesus authentically. Yesterday, during a Bible study, I witnessed a man break down in tears, overwhelmed by shame and guilt. I felt God nudging me to reach out to him, but I hesitated, paralyzed by fear. I'm asking for prayers that I may have the courage to speak His truth into their lives and that God will prepare their hearts to receive it. I long to experience the joy of seeing these men find hope and salvation in Jesus.

Dear Joshua, your experience in volunteering is a powerful testament to God’s work in the lives of those often overlooked. It’s not uncommon to feel fear when approaching someone who is hurting, but remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love (2 Timothy 1:7). When you step out in faith to share the Gospel, believe that God is already working in the hearts of these men. 2 Peter 3:9 assures us that God is patient, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance. Your desire to facilitate life-changing encounters is a holy calling. Pray earnestly for guidance and for the right words to speak, trusting that the Holy Spirit will lead you. I’m praying for boldness and sensitivity as you minister.
