Desiring to Share Hope in Difficult Times
Being deployed has been one of the toughest experiences of my life. I see so many of my fellow soldiers battling personal demons—loss, fear, and uncertainty. I desperately want to share the hope and love of Christ with them, but I struggle with finding the right words. I want to be a testimony of God's love in their lives. I pray for them to be drawn to Christ and for the Lord to give me the right opportunities to share my story. Please pray for my unit, that they would find hope and salvation during these challenging times.
Pastor's Response
Pastor Ruth Anderson
Senior Pastor, Bethel Church
Dear James, your heart for your fellow soldiers is truly inspiring. In times of turmoil, the hope we have in Christ can be a beacon for those around us. Remember that God can work wonders through your testimony. In Romans 6:23, we are reminded, 'For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.' Your goal is to guide them towards this gift. Sharing your own struggles and how God has brought you through can resonate deeply with those who are battling their own hardships. As in 1 Peter 3:15, we are called to be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you for the reason for the hope that you have. Trust that God will set up opportunities for you to share His love. I will pray for you and your unit, that God’s peace would surround you and that many would come to know Him through your willingness to share.
