Desperate for a Fresh Encounter with God

I’m a 32-year-old single dad, and I’ve been feeling increasingly distant from God. Life has become so busy with work and caring for my son that I often find myself just going through the motions of faith. I want that fervor I used to have, where I couldn’t wait to read my Bible or pray. Now, it feels like a chore. I miss the passion and joy that once filled my heart. I’m asking for prayers that I would encounter God in a fresh way, reigniting the fire of faith in my life. I want my relationship with Christ to be more than a routine; I want it to be transformational for both me and my son.

Dear David, thank you for your openness and vulnerability. It’s truly a blessing to know that you desire a deeper relationship with God. Life can be overwhelming, especially when balancing responsibilities as a single parent. However, remember what Hebrews 11:1 teaches us about faith: ‘Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.’ Even when you may feel distant, God is close and waiting for you to call upon Him. In John 14:27, Jesus promises us peace that surpasses all understanding, and it’s in that peace that you can find the strength to reconnect with Him. I encourage you to carve out moments in your day for prayer and reflection, inviting your son to join you in this journey. Together, you both can witness God’s work in your lives. Let’s pray: Heavenly Father, I ask that you bring David and his son a fresh revelation of your presence. Ignite a fire in their hearts that draws them closer to you. Amen.
