Desperate for My Uncle's Heart to Change
My uncle Tom has been in and out of the hospital for years due to his chronic illness, and it’s clear that his time is running out. He is not a believer and has always scoffed at religion, often telling me that he doesn’t need God. It pains me to see him in such a vulnerable state, and I feel a heavy burden to pray for him. I’ve tried to speak to him about faith, but every time, he dismisses it as nonsense. I am praying for a miracle—that God would break through the hardness of his heart. I ask for prayers that he might encounter God’s love in a profound way, allowing him to reconsider his stance on faith before it’s too late.

Dear Monica, thank you for sharing your heart about your Uncle Tom. It is clear how much you care for him, and your concern for his spiritual state is admirable. Sometimes, when we encounter resistance to faith, it can feel disheartening, but we must remember that God’s grace can reach even the hardest of hearts. In Philippians 4:6-7, we are reminded not to be anxious but to bring our requests before God, and His peace will guard our hearts. Take comfort in knowing that God loves your uncle and desires to see him saved (1 Timothy 2:4). Continue to pray for him earnestly, as prayer is powerful and can open doors that seem closed. As it says in Romans 6:23, 'For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.' Keep sharing the hope of this gift with him, and trust that God will work in his heart in His perfect timing. I will join you in praying for Uncle Tom’s heart to be softened and open to accepting the truth of Christ.
