Doubts in My Faith Journey After Loss
My name is Thomas. I recently lost my job, and with it, I lost a significant part of my identity. I've always viewed my work as a calling, something I believed was orchestrated by God. Now, I feel adrift and question whether I’m still on the right path. My faith feels shaky, and worldly worries about the future creep in. I can’t help but wonder about the afterlife and if my struggles here mean anything in the grand scheme. I’m seeking prayer for clarity and reassurance in my journey, especially as I face these emotional challenges.

Dear Thomas, I'm grateful that you reached out with your concerns. Losing your job can feel like losing a piece of yourself, and it’s understandable to question your purpose during such a time. However, remember that your identity is rooted in Christ, not in your job. Jeremiah 29:11 affirms that God has plans for us, plans to prosper us and not to harm us. In moments of doubt, I encourage you to look to see how God might be redirecting you toward a new calling. Remember, Isaiah 40:31 promises that those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. He has a purpose for every season of life, including the challenging ones. Trust that this time is not wasted but rather an opportunity for growth and deeper faith. Let’s pray: Heavenly Father, I lift Thomas up to You. Grant him clarity and peace during this challenging time. Help him to trust in Your plans and remember his identity in You. Amen.
