Facing Anxiety as a New Parent Away from Family
Hi, I’m David, a 30-year-old father of a newborn. Since my wife and I brought our baby home, I’ve been struggling with anxiety, especially being away from family who could offer support. I feel constantly on edge, worried about whether I’m doing things right and terrified that something might happen to my wife or child. The thought of being alone with them is almost paralyzing, and I find myself unable to sleep or relax. I miss my family’s comforting presence more than ever during this time, and it adds to my anxiety. I’m reaching out for prayers that I can find strength and peace in my new role as a dad while trusting that God will watch over my family and guide me through these challenges.

Dear David, congratulations on becoming a father! This is a beautiful yet challenging time in your life, and it’s normal to feel anxious, especially in such a significant transition. Remember that God is with you every step of the way. Philippians 4:6 encourages us, 'Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.' Bring your worries to Him in prayer, and trust that He hears you. In moments of anxiety, lean on His promise found in Psalm 46:1, 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.' You are not alone in this journey; God is your ever-present help. Lastly, take heart in Isaiah 26:3, where He promises, 'Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.' I will be praying for peace to fill your heart and for confidence in your abilities as a new father. May God bless you and your family abundantly, guiding you through this joyful season. Amen.
