Facing Daily Anxiety from Racial Injustice
Dear Lord, I come to You with a heavy heart. As a Black woman living in a city where racial injustice is a constant reality, I find myself consumed by anxiety. My chest tightens at the thought of the discrimination I face both at work and in my community. It feels like my very identity is under threat, and I am terrified of the world around me. I often see news stories that remind me of the pain my community endures, and it triggers memories of my own experiences. I struggle to find peace in my daily life, and it weighs on me. Please pray that I may find comfort and strength amidst this ongoing battle. I long for the ability to trust in God’s plan and to feel safe in my own skin. I ask for prayers that my heart may be eased and that I may learn to surrender this fear to God.

Dear Jasmine, thank you for sharing your heart with me. Your pain and anxiety are real, and it's important to acknowledge the weight of racial trauma. Remember, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalms 34:18). You are not alone in this struggle. God is inviting you to cast all your anxieties upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). It is natural to feel anxious, but you can take comfort in knowing that God is guiding you through this turbulent time. He continues to renew His mercies every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23), and that is a promise we can cling to. Seek Him in prayer, and let His peace which surpasses all understanding guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:6-7). I am praying for your peace and strength in these challenging times, that you may find refuge in His arms. May God's grace envelop you today.
