Facing Doubts About My Future in Ministry
As a 35-year-old man, I've spent years volunteering at my church and have felt a pull towards seminary. But doubts keep creeping in. I wonder if I'm truly called to ministry or if it's just a passing thought. My life has been filled with challenges, and the thought of pursuing education at this stage feels overwhelming. I fear that I might not have the resources or the time to commit fully. On top of this, I constantly compare myself to others who seem so assured in their faith. I ask for prayer as I try to discern whether this desire is from God and if I should take steps toward seminary.

Pastor Michael Thompson
Missions Pastor, First Baptist Church
Dear David, thank you for being open about your struggles. It's natural to experience doubts, especially when contemplating a significant life change. Remember, Jesus said, "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove" (Matthew 17:20). Your desire to pursue seminary may very well be God tugging at your heart! Embrace His promise that He will guide you—"In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs 3:6). Every step in faith you take can lead to spiritual growth. You are not alone in this journey—God has equipped you uniquely for His work, and it is God who gives you the strength to persevere through challenges (Philippians 4:13). I pray that you find peace in your decision-making process and that God grants you clarity about your calling. Amen.
