Facing Financial Despair After Job Loss at 55
I lost my job a few months ago, and at 55, I feel like the walls are closing in on me. I've applied to countless positions, but it seems that employers overlook me because of my age. My mortgage payment is due soon, and I’m terrified of losing my home. I’ve been working hard all my life, and to find myself in this situation is disheartening. I pray for guidance, strength, and a way to provide for my family once again. I'm asking for prayer that God opens doors for me and helps me to find a job that values my experience and dedication.

Dear Carl, I’m deeply moved by your situation. It’s understandable to feel overwhelmed during such a challenging season. Remember, God sees your struggles and cares for you deeply. In Deuteronomy 8:18, we are reminded, "But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth." This means that your worth is not defined by your job, but by who you are in Christ. Trust in His provision, as Philippians 4:19 assures us, "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Take heart, as James 1:5 encourages us to ask God for wisdom in difficult times, and He will provide it abundantly. I encourage you to keep pushing forward in faith and to lean into your community for support.
