Facing the Fear of Public Speaking in Class
Hi, my name is Sarah, and I'm a 22-year-old college student. I’ve always had a fear of public speaking, but this semester, I have to give a presentation in front of my entire class, and the thought of it makes me feel paralyzed with anxiety. I constantly worry about what others will think of me and the possibility of embarrassing myself. My heart races just thinking about it, and I often find myself avoiding situations where I might have to speak publicly. I know I should rely on God, but the fear feels so overwhelming. I’m asking for prayer that God would calm my heart and mind, give me the confidence to share my insights, and help me remember that He is with me no matter the outcome.

Dear Sarah, I want you to know that your feelings are valid, and you’re not alone in this battle against anxiety. Even those who seem confident have their own fears and insecurities. In 2 Timothy 1:7, we are reminded that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. It’s encouraging to remember that God empowers us in our weaknesses. As you prepare for your presentation, cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Allow the peace of God, which passes all understanding, to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Remember, every time you step up to speak, you’re not alone—God goes before you. I will pray that He grants you the strength and peace you need. Trust in Him, and everything will work out for your good. May God bless your efforts and give you the courage to shine in your moment.
