Fear of Perpetual Sin and Disconnection from God
At 28, I’m struggling with intense fears that I’m eternally separated from God due to my sin. I’ve been diagnosed with OCD, and it's hard to shake these obsessive thoughts. I worry about every little mistake I make, replaying my actions over and over, and I often feel unworthy of God’s love and grace. I fear that my doubts signal a lack of faith, which only adds to my anxiety. I need prayer to help me find reassurance in my faith, and to gain freedom from these obsessive thoughts that hinder my relationship with God.

Dear David, thank you for sharing your heart with me. It’s important to recognize that your battle with OCD can intensify your feelings of fear and disconnection from God. In Romans 8:38-39, we are assured that nothing can separate us from God’s love, not even our struggles or doubts. It’s powerful to remember this promise! I encourage you to lean into 2 Timothy 1:7, which states, 'For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.' You are not alone in this fight; consider seeking support from others who understand these challenges. As you seek the Lord, remember Matthew 6:34: 'Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.' Trust that God’s grace is sufficient for your journey, and let us pray that you may find peace and clarity in His presence. May you experience His unchanging love.
