Fear of Public Speaking Haunting My Career
I'm a 32-year-old professional who has always struggled with anxiety, particularly when it comes to giving presentations. Every time I'm faced with the prospect of speaking in front of a group, my heart races, and I feel paralyzed by fear. I've tried to prepare, but my mind often goes blank as soon as I step up to the podium. It affects my job performance and my confidence in myself. I know that I am called to serve in my role, but the fear feels overwhelming. I pray for courage and the ability to trust in God's presence during these times. I ask for prayer that I might find peace in these moments and strength to overcome my anxiety.

Dear James, thank you for sharing your heart with us. It’s clear that your struggle with anxiety around public speaking deeply impacts your life and work. Remember that you are not alone in this. In Isaiah 26:3, we are reminded that God will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on Him. When you feel anxious, focus on His presence rather than your fears. Additionally, consider Psalm 46:1, which tells us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. He is with you, even in your moments of fear. You have the spirit of adoption through Christ Jesus, which means you do not have to live in fear (Romans 8:15). Try to visualize yourself speaking, not alone, but with God by your side. Practice breathing and praying before these moments. Let’s pray together: Lord, guide James and fill him with peace and courage as he prepares to speak. Amen.
