Fear of Public Speaking in My New Role
Hello, I’m Priya, a 30-year-old project manager. I was recently promoted, and while I’m excited about the new responsibilities, I am terrified of the public speaking aspect of my job. I often find myself overwhelmed, imagining the worst-case scenarios of speaking to clients or leading team meetings. My hands get clammy, and I just freeze up. It’s frustrating because I’ve worked hard to get to this point, and I want to excel. I’m asking for prayer to help me build my confidence and manage my fear of public speaking.

Dear Priya, thank you for sharing your heart. It’s natural to feel anxious when stepping into new roles, especially with increased visibility. You are not alone in this challenge. In Isaiah 41:10, God assures us, 'Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee.' Cling to this promise as you navigate your new responsibilities. Remember that God’s strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). When you feel inadequate, God’s grace is sufficient for you. Take comfort in the knowledge that you are growing, and each opportunity to speak is a step toward building your confidence. Let’s pray: Lord, I lift Priya up to You. Fill her with Your confidence and peace as she speaks, and help her to remember that You are always by her side. In Jesus' name, Amen.
