Fear of Surgery and the Unknown Future

I’m a 45-year-old single mom preparing for a major surgery next month. The fear of the unknown is overwhelming, making it hard to sleep or focus on anything else. I worry about how I will care for my children during recovery and what will happen if I don’t come through the surgery as expected. I just want to be there for my kids and be healthy again. Please pray for strength and faith for me, and that I can trust God to carry me through this process. I’m seeking peace amidst my turmoil.

Dear Samantha, thank you for sharing your struggles with us. It takes great courage to admit fear, especially as a single mom facing surgery. I want to encourage you with the beautiful promise found in 3 John 1:2, which says, 'Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.' God desires your well-being, not just spiritually, but in every aspect of your life. Remember that you can cast your anxieties on Him, as expressed in Philippians 4:6-7, where we are told to 'be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.' His peace will guard your heart and mind. In your moments of fear, reflect on Psalm 34:18, which reminds us that 'The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.' He is so close to you, ready to comfort and strengthen you. Samantha, we will be lifting you up in prayer. Let’s pray: "Lord, grant Samantha peace and healing as she prepares for her surgery. Surround her with Your love and strength. Amen."
