Feeling Alone in My Marriage Due to Family Conflict
My name is David, and I am writing to ask for prayer for my marriage. Since our wedding, my wife’s family has been overly involved in our lives, often undermining our decisions and creating unnecessary conflict. I feel like I am battling this alone, as my wife often feels torn between her family and me. I struggle with feelings of anger and resentment towards her parents, which is affecting my love for my wife. I want us to be a united front, but the stress from her family confrontations is debilitating. I ask for prayer that my wife and I might find a way to approach her family together and that God gives us the courage to set healthy boundaries. I wish to feel supported in my marriage rather than isolated.

Dear David, thank you for sharing your heart with us. It’s clear you are facing a challenging situation, and it’s commendable that you seek prayer for both your marriage and your family dynamics. Feeling isolated can be incredibly difficult, especially when it comes to our loved ones. Remember that God is with you in these struggles; Deuteronomy 31:6 reminds us, ‘Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.’ It’s essential to communicate with your wife about how you feel, as she may not fully realize the weight of the situation on you. Together, you can approach her family with humility, seeking to establish boundaries that will allow your marriage to flourish. Always lean on the Lord for strength; He is our refuge in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). Let’s pray: Lord, grant David and his wife the courage to navigate these challenges and foster unity in their marriage amidst family pressures. Amen.
