Feeling Ashamed of Inconsistent Bible Study Habits

Hi, I am reaching out because I am feeling really ashamed about my struggle to keep up with my Bible study. I know the importance of connecting with Scripture and growing my faith, but I often find myself getting distracted or prioritizing other tasks. I feel guilty when I think about how much I truly want to know God and His Word, yet I keep falling short. I want to delve into the Scriptures not just out of duty but out of love for God. Please pray for me that I can find the motivation and discipline to read the Bible regularly and truly engage with what I am reading. I want to overcome this feeling of shame and find joy in my relationship with God.

Dear James, I appreciate your openness in sharing your prayer request. It’s completely normal to struggle with consistency in Bible study, and God knows your heart. Remember that your relationship with Him is not about perfection, but about progress. As stated in Jeremiah 29:11, 'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.' Your journey of faith is filled with ups and downs, but God is working in you through it all. Try to create a simple plan that allows you to incorporate Scripture into your daily routine. It could be as straightforward as joining a Bible-study group or using a daily devotional. And most importantly, let’s not forget Romans 8:39, 'Neither height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.' God loves you and is patient with you. Let us pray: Father, I ask that You help James find a renewed enthusiasm for Your Word and that he may experience Your love and grace in this journey. Amen.
