Feeling Lost as My Husband Struggles with Dependency
I’m Luke, a 32-year-old husband and father. I feel completely lost as my wife fights a severe addiction to prescription painkillers. Our home has become a battleground, filled with mistrust and fear. I worry about our young daughter and the negative impact this is having on her. It’s heartbreaking to witness the woman I love become a shell of herself, and I often feel powerless. I’ve tried to talk to her, but she only grows defensive and withdrawn. I’m asking for prayer to find guidance on how to approach this situation. I need strength to support her while also protecting our daughter from this turmoil.

Pastor Linda Morrison
Missions Pastor, First Baptist Church
Dear Luke, thank you for sharing your heart and your struggles. I want you to know that God is deeply aware of your situation and cares for you and your family. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites those who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest, and I encourage you to lean on Him during this difficult time. It’s clear that you love your wife, and 1 Corinthians 13:4 reminds us that love is patient, even when it is tested. Seeking help from professionals who can guide both you and your wife may also be beneficial. Remember, Psalm 127:3 tells us that children are a heritage from the Lord; your responsibility to protect your daughter is paramount. I will pray for wisdom, patience, and the restoration of your marriage. Trust that God is at work, even when circumstances seem bleak.
