Feeling Overwhelmed in Ministry Finances
I am a 45-year-old church administrator, and lately, I’ve been overwhelmed by how underpaid I am in my position. I’ve dedicated my life to this ministry, and yet, my family is suffering due to financial strain. My husband works hard, but it’s still not enough to cover our mortgage and bills. I feel like I am losing my grip on faith with each overdue notice. Please pray that God will help me find a way to support my family and also value the work of ministry. I need clarity on whether to remain in this role or seek a better-paying job outside the church.

Associate Pastor, Covenant Presbyterian Church
Dear Rebecca, thank you for sharing your struggles with me. I can only imagine how challenging it must be to balance your calling and your family’s financial needs. Remember, God's plan often includes periods of testing and growth. Proverbs 22:29 says, "Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men." Your diligence in this ministry will bear fruit in due time. It may be worthwhile to consider all your options; God can open new doors for you. As you seek clarity, I encourage you to pray for wisdom. The promise in James 1:5 is particularly relevant for you: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God..." Let’s pray that God grants you the insight to make the best decision for your family and your ministry. May you find peace in this journey. Amen.
