Feeling Overwhelmed in My Spiritual Routine

Heavenly Father, I admit that I often feel overwhelmed by my spiritual routine. I try to read my Bible every day, but life pulls me in so many directions, and guilt washes over me every time I miss a day. I see others who seem so dedicated, and I feel ashamed that I can't keep up. I want to know You more deeply and allow Your Word to guide my life, but sometimes it feels like an unreachable goal. Please help me find a rhythm that works for my life. Allow me to embrace grace instead of shame when I struggle to read. I desire a heart that is hungry for Your presence and a spirit willing to learn. Amen.

Dear Michael, thank you for your vulnerability in sharing this struggle. It’s often easy to feel overwhelmed by expectations, both external and internal. Remember, God does not desire perfection; He desires your heart. In 2 Corinthians 5:7, we are reminded, 'For we walk by faith, not by sight.' When you feel inadequate, lean into your faith instead of your feelings of shame. Consider starting small; perhaps choose a single verse each day to meditate on, rather than trying to read extensively. Proverbs 3:6 encourages us, 'In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.' By taking small, intentional steps, you open the door for God to guide you deeper into His Word. You are on a journey, and every effort matters. Let’s pray: Dear Lord, we ask that You lift the burden of shame from Michael's heart. Help him develop a sincere desire to connect with You through Your Word and remind him that You are always with him. Amen.
