Feeling Stuck in Anger After Family Conflict
I’m a 32-year-old man who’s been battling a deep-rooted anger towards my brother after a fight that escalated over a family issue. The way he spoke to me felt dismissive and disrespectful, and I can't shake the feeling of betrayal. I thought we were close, but now everything feels strained. I’ve tried to reach out and make amends, but my heart is still filled with resentment. I know the Bible calls for forgiveness, but I find myself justifying this anger and holding onto it. I desperately need prayer to help me let go of this bitterness and to find a path towards reconciliation with my brother. I don’t want my anger to define me anymore.

Dear Michael, thank you for your openness about your struggle. Anger can be a powerful emotion, but it’s important to remember what it can do to our hearts and relationships. Ephesians 4:26-27 advises us, 'Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place to the devil.' Your feelings are valid, but holding on to anger can lead to further division. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 5:23-24 that reconciliation is important. If we are offering our gift at the altar and remember that someone has something against us, we must seek to be reconciled. I encourage you to pray for your brother and to ask God for the courage to speak your heart to him lovingly. Remember, forgiveness doesn’t mean you excuse his behavior; it means you allow God to heal your heart. As you work towards forgiveness, trust in Proverbs 3:5 to guide you: 'Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.' I’m praying for you, dear brother, that God will bring healing to your heart and your relationship. May you find peace in this process.
