Finding Balance Between Self-Care and Parenting
As a new mom, I love my baby dearly, but I’m struggling to find time for myself. Between feeding, changing, and comforting, I feel like I’ve lost my identity, and I’m often too exhausted to even think about self-care. My husband tries to help, but I find it hard to ask for what I need. I want to be the best mom I can be, but I also want to reconnect with myself. Please pray that I can find a balance and remember that taking care of myself is essential for being a good parent.

Dear Sarah, I appreciate your vulnerability in sharing this struggle. It’s common for new parents to feel like their own needs take a back seat, but remember that self-care is not selfish; it's essential. In Genesis 2:18, God noted that it is not good for man to be alone, which illustrates the importance of community and support. You and your husband are a team, and I encourage you to communicate your needs openly with him. Your well-being contributes to the well-being of your family. Remember, in Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus invites those who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest. Take time to recharge, even if it’s just a few moments each day. I will pray that you find that precious balance between caring for your baby and nurturing your own spirit. May God grant you peace and the courage to prioritize your own needs as well.
