Finding Calm After the Storm of Disaster
My name is Sarah, and I am a 32-year-old mother of two. Last year, our home was destroyed in a devastating flood, and I am still grappling with the aftermath. The trauma haunts me every day; I can't seem to shake the feeling that disaster is always lurking around the corner. I find myself constantly checking the weather reports, and if it rains even a little, my heart races. I fear for my children and our future—what if we face another disaster? I want to be strong for my family, but the weight of this anxiety is crushing. I ask for prayer that I may find peace in God's promises and learn to trust Him again after everything we've been through.

Dear Sarah, thank you for sharing your heart with us. It’s understandable that you feel the weight of anxiety after such a traumatic experience. Remember that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalms 46:1). Your feelings are valid, and it’s important to take them to God. He reminds us not to fear because He is with us; He will strengthen and help you (Isaiah 41:10). You are not alone in this journey—God is your constant companion. As you seek peace, hold on to Philippians 4:7, which assures us that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. I will pray for you to find comfort and strength in Him, and that you may experience His peace as you navigate these feelings. May God bless you and your family with His reassuring presence.
