Finding God in the Lab: A Scientist’s Prayer
As I work in a lab conducting research, I often feel a sense of disconnect between my scientific pursuits and my faith in God. My colleagues are passionate about their work, but they rarely mention God, which leaves me feeling isolated. I want to deepen my relationship with God while also thriving in my career. I pray for the strength to share my faith and for wisdom in blending my work with my beliefs without compromising either.

Dear Aisha, it’s wonderful to hear your desire to integrate your faith with your career in science. God is present in every aspect of our lives, including our work. In your lab, remember that 'the heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork' (Psalms 19:1). Your pursuit of knowledge is a way of honoring the Creator. Trust that God has placed you in this environment for a reason, and He can use you as a light in that space. 'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil' (Jeremiah 29:11). Pray for opportunities to share your faith with grace and confidence. God will provide the wisdom you need (James 1:5) to navigate these challenges. I will pray that you find balance and peace as you embrace both your scientific career and your faith.
