Finding Hope Amidst Intellectual Struggles
Hello, I’m Rachel, a college student who has always been passionate about my faith. However, my coursework in philosophy has opened up a floodgate of questions regarding the existence of God. I often find myself feeling overwhelmed by various philosophical arguments against faith. I sometimes feel as though my beliefs are collapsing under the weight of academic scrutiny. I desire to understand how faith can coexist with reason and intellect without feeling like I’m compromising my beliefs. Please pray that I can reconcile these aspects of my life and find hope in my faith despite these challenges.

Dear Rachel, your pursuit of knowledge is commendable, and it can indeed lead to deeper faith. Remember, faith and reason are not enemies; rather, they can complement each other beautifully. In 2 Corinthians 5:7, we are reminded, 'For we walk by faith, not by sight.' This encourages us to hold on to our faith, even when our understanding is challenged. God calls us to love Him with all our mind (Matthew 22:37), and He is not afraid of our questions. Engage deeply with both your studies and your faith, allowing them to inform each other. I pray that you will find a balance and peace amidst this intellectual struggle, realizing that true wisdom often comes from God (James 1:5). May you be encouraged to explore and seek, knowing that God is with you each step of the way.
