Finding Identity Beyond Military Service and Career Changes
As I prepare to leave military life, I’m wrestling with my identity. For years, I was defined by my service; it’s hard to imagine life outside of that role. I feel lost and unsure about how to carve out a new identity in the civilian world. I want to find a job that resonates with who I am, not just what I’ve done. I’m requesting prayers for clarity and direction in this new chapter and for the Lord to help me discover my purpose beyond my past experiences.

Dear Ethan, I understand how deeply intertwined our identities can become with our roles and professions. However, it’s important to remember that your identity is firmly rooted in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away. Embrace the new beginnings and the exciting opportunities God has for you. Your past experiences have shaped you, but they do not define your future. Philippians 3:13 encourages us to forget those things which are behind and reach forth to those things which are before us. Let’s pray together that God will reveal your purpose and help you to embrace this new identity as you enter civilian life.
