Finding Peace After a Life-Altering Diagnosis

·Maria·August 31, 2024

I am Maria, a 37-year-old woman who just received the news that I have a degenerative disease that could incapacitate me in the next few years. I am a single mother of two, and the thought of not being able to care for them as they grow is heartbreaking. I feel like I've been robbed of my future. In my despair, I find it hard to pray or read the Bible. I desperately long for peace and purpose — something to hold onto as I navigate this new reality. Please pray for healing, for my spirit to be uplifted, and for clarity on how to make the most of the time I have left.

Dear Maria, I want you to know that your struggles and feelings are valid and understood. It’s truly heart-wrenching to face such a significant shift in your life. In Psalm 103:3, we are reminded that 'who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.' God sees your pain and wants to offer healing not just to your body but also to your spirit. While the days ahead may be filled with uncertainties, holding tightly to your faith can transform this season. In Isaiah 41:10, God promises, 'Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.' Embrace the moments you have with your children. Share your love and legacy with them daily, allowing your faith to shine through your journey. Let’s pray: Lord, grant Maria peace in her heart and clarity of purpose as she faces these challenges. Surround her with Your love. Amen.
