Finding Peace Beyond Fear and Doubt
Hello, I’m David, a 29-year-old teacher struggling with an overwhelming fear of hell. Despite my faith, I often question whether I am doing enough to be worthy of salvation. The weight of these feelings makes me unable to experience the joy of my faith. I spend too much time pondering my shortcomings instead of embracing God’s mercy. I long for the kind of peace that allows me to focus on the blessings in my life rather than the fear of what I may face after death. I ask for prayer that I may truly grasp the depth of God's love and grace, and that I can shift my focus away from fear and upon His promises.

Dear David, thank you for your request. It is a gift to be able to share your struggles, and I want to assure you that God’s heart is for you to have peace. Philippians 4:7 reassures us that "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." You are not alone in battling feelings of unworthiness; many struggle with the same thoughts. It’s important to remember that salvation is not based on our performance, but on Jesus’ finished work on the cross. Hebrews 10:14 tells us, "For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified." You are perfected in Christ. Instead of focusing on your fears, I encourage you to meditate on God’s Word and promises daily, reminding yourself of His love. James 1:5 teaches us that if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally. Ask God to fill your heart with His peace and assurance. I will pray for you, that fear will diminish and be replaced by His perfect love.
