Finding Peace Beyond the Fear of Death
I’m a 60-year-old woman named Eleanor, and I've been grappling with a fear of death that has only intensified with age. I've experienced the loss of many friends and family, which has left me feeling uneasy about my own mortality. It's as if a shadow looms over me, preventing me from enjoying the time I have left. I seek peace but find myself overwhelmed by anxiety and sadness. I know I should trust in God, but I feel stuck in this cycle of fear. I would appreciate your prayers for comfort and to fully embrace the hope of everlasting life.

Dear Eleanor, it's natural to feel anxious as we approach the later stages of life, especially after experiencing loss. Your feelings are valid, and I want to encourage you to reflect on the hope we have in Christ. In 2 Corinthians 5:1, we are reminded that 'if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.' This promise of eternal life is a source of great comfort. Each day, seek to dwell in the assurance of God’s love, as expressed in Romans 8:38-39, where we learn that nothing can separate us from His love. It may also be helpful to meditate on Philippians 4:6-7, which encourages us not to be anxious but to bring our requests to God. I will be praying for you, Eleanor, that you find peace and the joy of living in the light of God’s promises.
