Finding Purpose Beyond a Career
As my retirement date nears, I’m feeling a strong sense of anxiety about my identity and purpose. For so long, my career has anchored my everyday life, and the thought of retiring makes me question who I will be without that role. I worry that I might become irrelevant and struggle to find joy in each day. I urge you to pray that God would help me uncover His purpose for my life after work. I want to let go of my fears and embrace what lies ahead, knowing that my identity is in Him.

Dear Sarah, thank you for reaching out and sharing your feelings. It’s perfectly normal to feel anxious about such a significant life change. It's crucial to remember that your worth is not defined by your job but by your identity in Christ. Romans 8:15 tells us that we are children of God, adopted into His family, and that brings immeasurable value. As you retire, seek out ways to serve others and invest in relationships that nourish your spirit. Hold onto the promise found in Philippians 4:6, which encourages us to bring our worries to God in prayer. I encourage you to find new ways to express yourself and embrace this new chapter with faith. I’m praying for you, that God reveals His plans for your life in this season. Let’s pray: Lord, guide Sarah in this transition, helping her discover her purpose in you. In Jesus' name, Amen.
