Finding Solace on the Anniversary of My Loss
This week marks ten years since my mother passed away, and the day is creeping up on me. I thought I had found some semblance of peace, but grief has a way of creeping back into our lives when we least expect it. I feel an overwhelming sense of longing and sadness, especially as I see families together celebrating their mothers. I wish I could express my love to her one more time. I find myself questioning the meaning of life without her guiding presence. I ask for your prayers that I can remember her with joy and not just pain, and that I may find comfort in God's love during this time.

Dear Ethan, I understand how painful anniversaries can be, especially when they remind us of our deep losses. Your desire to connect with your mother and your struggle to cope with her absence resonate with many who have experienced similar grief. Remember, as stated in Lamentations 3:32, though the Lord causes grief, He will have compassion according to the abundance of His steadfast love. This is a time for you to embrace both your memories and your feelings, allowing them to coexist. It’s also a chance to celebrate the life she lived and the love she shared. Consider creating a small tribute in her honor—a letter to her, lighting a candle, or sharing memories with others who loved her. This can be a beautiful way to find solace and reflect on her impact in your life. I will keep you in my prayers, asking God to grant you peace and to help you remember your mother with a heart full of gratitude rather than sorrow.
