Grieving My Changing Reflection in the Mirror
Hi, my name is Lisa. I lost my arm to a serious illness, and my view of myself has changed drastically. I used to be confident and active, and now I feel like I barely recognize the person in the mirror. My self-esteem has plummeted, and I struggle with feelings of inadequacy and sadness. I miss the ability to do things on my own and find joy in activities that once brought me so much happiness. I am asking for prayer as I mourn this loss and try to reconcile my new identity with the one I used to have.

Dear Lisa, thank you for opening your heart and sharing your journey with us. Our identities are often tied to our physical bodies, and it’s understandable that losing an arm has impacted how you see yourself. However, let me remind you that your worth is not defined by your physical appearance. God sees you as His beloved daughter, and He cares deeply for you. In Psalms 147:3, we read, 'He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.' It’s important to take the time to grieve this loss and to allow God to heal your heart. Remember also that 'He will wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying' (Revelation 21:4). These promises remind us that God has a plan even in the most challenging times. I encourage you to seek support from loved ones and allow them to walk alongside you in this healing process. Together, let’s pray for restoration and a renewed sense of identity in Christ.
