Growing Together in the Shadow of War
I am reaching out for prayer for my family and me. My spouse returned from military service, and while I am grateful for their safe return, the adjustment has been more challenging than we anticipated. We have both changed, and sometimes it feels like we are two strangers trying to figure out how to connect again. I can see how they struggle with their experiences, and I want to be supportive, but I often feel like I am walking through a fog. I miss the laughter we once shared, and I want to cultivate that joy again. Please pray for our communication and understanding as we navigate this new chapter. I ask for God’s guidance to help us grow together and rediscover the love that drew us to each other in the first place.

Dear Alex, it’s commendable that you recognize the need for prayer and support as you and your spouse navigate this transition. Adjusting to a loved one’s return after deployment can indeed be difficult, but know that God is with you both in this journey. In 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, we are reminded of the nature of love: it is patient, it is kind, and it bears all things. Lean on this truth as you both work to rebuild your connection. Create small moments of togetherness, whether it be cooking a meal or taking a walk, where you can share your hearts openly. As it is written in Colossians 3:13, bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. This will help you to navigate the complex emotions with grace. Continue to pray for God’s wisdom and presence in your lives, and trust that He will guide you both into deeper understanding and connection. I will lift you and your spouse up in prayer as you take these steps toward healing together.
