Healing from Trauma: A Mother's Plea
As a mother, I’ve always been the one to care for my family, but after my recent surgery, I feel like I am broken. The procedure was traumatic, and now I struggle with anxiety and flashbacks of the experience. I try to shield my children from my pain, but they can sense my unease. I constantly worry about being a burden and not being the strong mother they need. I find myself withdrawing, unable to engage with them as I did before. I miss my laughter, my joy. I’m reaching out for prayer, asking for strength to overcome this fear and anxiety, and for healing so I can be the mother my children deserve.
Pastor's Response
Pastor James Okafor
Missions Pastor, First Baptist Church
Dear Linda, thank you for your heartfelt message. It’s clear that you are carrying a heavy load right now, and I commend you for reaching out for help. Remember that it is okay to be vulnerable; it is a part of healing. Your identity as a mother is important, but it is also vital to take care of your own well-being. God sees your struggle and He cares for you deeply. In Romans 8:15, we are reminded that 'Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.' This means you have a loving Father who desires to comfort and support you. As you face these feelings, I encourage you to also remember the promise in Lamentations 3:23: 'They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.' Each day brings the opportunity for restoration. Don’t hesitate to seek professional help alongside prayer; God often works through people to bring healing. Let’s pray: "Heavenly Father, please bring peace and healing to Linda's heart. Help her to embrace her vulnerabilities and lean on You during this time of distress. May she find joy and strength in Your presence, in Jesus' name, Amen."
